Black and Decker 100 Watt Converter - My All time favority Automotive Accessory =)

So weird that one accessory that I bought on a complete whim, would be the most used car accessory I have ever used. I mean when I say accessories in cars, I am sure people are thinking about seats that massage, cool, LED lighting that in the door trim, maybe audio visual that comes with a folding laptop in back. Something ultra luxury, like the ceiling in the roofs of the Rolls-Royce with it looking like a clear night sky.

But none of that is what I am going to write about. Of all things something bought as a kind of something that I could possibly use, a just grab it kind of item. You know like all that stuff that is as seen on TV and the like.

 Something you really don’t need currently, but you are sure when you do need you want to have it.

The thing is that in all truthfulness, I did not use it till about 10 years after I bought it. Maybe even longer than that. I think I got it when I was in Toledo of all places when I was upgrading my phone at the local radio shack. 

I was going from my basic cellular phone to one that I could, oh it hands to be where I could hang it on the side of my belt.

Great story, first time I did that. I went to pay my rent in winter, and I accidentally dropped it and ran it over and the maintenance crew was shoveling snow and they found it. 

But it just to be able to hang off the belt to be very, very, cool at the time.

I am going to have to look up a picture of that old phone to included in this story.

Anywhoo, be that as it may, I don’t think after I bought the most used accessory I have ever had until post-divorce, post moving 3 times etc. Then suddenly, I remember I had it. I was like yeah this will work. It was when I started to do more working on my laptop in my car. It really was the thing that was needed at the time.

It is a Black and Decker 100 W cigarette plug in adapter. I think it sat for at least 5 years in my toolbox before I remembered it. I used it all the time, mostly to charge the phone, but also for using the computer. It is kind of funny considering even if you get a new one that have the same internal fan that runs when it gets hot.

I have been looking for a replacement one for a while. But basically, it might give me more amperage but still deal with the fan noise. It was such a buy on the whim kind of thing. I remembered it was like 17 dollars or something. Then completely forgot that I bought it. Now it is the main thing I look for when I get in my car.

I know not the most luxurious car accessory being that you can do and put anything in them now a days, but if you don’t have one and I when I can’t find it, I am completely going thru the car looking for it. But if you don’t have one, you just might, might want to get one for yourself. Now I consider it as important as a spare tire and a jack in all honesty.
